Importing RALLE Warehouse Data into ModMaster

Basic policy information
and detailed claims data captured in Zywave's RALLE Warehouse can be transferred
to ModMaster through an easy export/import process.
With ModMaster update
08.06 and later, you now have two options for importing RALLE data:
-
Import setup and claim data to create a new
ModMaster file, OR
-
Import claim data only into the large loss page
of an existing ModMaster file
Option 2 is
particularly useful if you establish a ModMaster file using 3 or 4
years' worth of RALLE data for an experience period, then the next year
perform a ModMaster rollover and then want to add just the newest
period's loss data to that file.
For
option 1, importing setup and claim data to create a new ModMaster
file, follow these steps:
-
Go to the RALLE
Warehouse system and specify that you want to export a file in
ModMaster format.
You will be prompted to enter the effective date of the mod
calculation. By default, RALLE will pull the three previous years of
claims data (not counting the most recent year) as is standard for
most mod calculations. However, you can override this default by
manually entering up to four policy years of data that you want to
use.
RALLE will generate a file with the extension ".mod". Be sure to
note where you save this file, since you'll need to reference it in
the next step.
-
Now go to ModMaster
File Utilities
and import the mod file you created in RALLE.
From the ModMaster Home page, click on "File Utilities" and then "Import
data." You can also choose "Utilities/Import" from the pull-down
menu on most ModMaster screens. In the Import dialog box, click the
check box beside the words "Zywave/RALLE Warehouse," then click the
OK button.
In the file selection dialog, navigate to the desired folder and select the file to import. Then
click "Open" to continue.
The subsequent dialog box shows the file being imported and the
filename that will be used in ModMaster. You can change this
filename if desired. Then click the "Yes" button to continue.
A message reminds you that you will need to manually enter payroll
data into the new ModMaster file before a valid calculation can be
performed. After you click OK, you will be taken to the Company
Setup page where you should confirm the basic policy information and
then proceed to entering payroll and checking loss data.
For
option 2, importing claim data only into the large loss page of an
existing ModMaster file, follow these steps:
-
Go to the RALLE
Warehouse system and specify that you want to export a file in
ModMaster format.
You will be prompted to enter the effective date of the mod
calculation. By default, RALLE will pull the three previous years of
claims data (not counting the most recent year) as is standard for
most mod calculations. However, you should override this default by
manually entering the policy period(s) that you want to import.
RALLE will generate a file with the extension ".mod". Be sure to
note where you save this file, since you'll need to reference it in
the next step.
-
Now go to the ModMaster
Large Loss page and import the mod file you created in RALLE.
From the ModMaster Mod Data page, select the desired ModMaster file,
then navigate to the Large Loss page. Click on the "Import"
button in the toolbar near the top of the page. Then click the
check box beside the words "Loss data from Zywave/RALLE Warehouse," then click the
OK button.
In the file selection dialog, navigate to the desired folder and select the file to import. Then
click "Open" to continue.
The subsequent dialog box gives you the option of appending to the
existing large loss data or overwriting the existing large loss
data. Choose the desired option, then click OK. You will then
receive a confirmation dialog before the import begins.
IMPORTANT: Because of
the timing of carrier adjustments to claims data, there may be
differences in the data imported from the RALLE Warehouse and the data
that is actually submitted to the appropriate workers compensation
bureau for the mod computation. You should carefully check and if
necessary edit the claims data in ModMaster to make sure that it is
appropriate for the calculation.
